My reason for wanting to learn instructional technology is to enhance the methods through which science education is taught to elementary school teachers. I also teach assessment courses and would like to apply similar technologies there.
I've used technology since my arrival in the US some 28 years ago. My first experiences were rather hillarious. The best part of learning to use technology was the efficiency with which images, computations, and text is created and communicated.
With growing need for serving students who desire online education it is important for me to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to transition toward more online instruction.
I could outsource this task but I would be employing myself!!

Greetings and welcome to class. I hope that you find this a useful experience as you work to enhance your teaching methods.
ReplyDeleteHi, Joseph. I have learned that all you have to do is ask the teacher or student and they will tell you what they want and need. The challenge seems to be how to provide them a technological silver bullet when it doesn't exist. The most success I have had with integrating technology into instruciton is to train, implement, train again, a little more implementation and finally train again. That process has proven to get results. :-) Good luck in the program, I hope you find what you are looking for. Bill
ReplyDeleteJoseph, we have a very exciting STEM lab on campus. It would be awesome to present integrated STEM in elementary science classes to engage and interest students early. Dr. Joe Scarcella, jscarcel@csusb.edu, can provide you with more information and arrange a visit if you are interested.
ReplyDeleteBill, you provided encouragement to me. I go to workshops continually and sometimes become frustrated. I feel like I should be able to implement technology after the workshop. It sounds great in the class, but when I get home I can't accomplish my goals, so I go to another workshop. Maybe there is hope for me yet. :)
